Manufacture and Characterization of Geopolymer Coatings Deposited from Suspensions on Aluminium Substrates

Geopolymers compete with a number of conventional coatings and few them have already been replaced. The aim this work was the analysis alkali-activated metakaolin-based geopolymers their use as brush-applied coatings, which were chosen due to simplicity cost-effectiveness. Eight prepared AlMgSi aluminum alloy underlying substrate also studied. main characterizations microscopy analysis, showed that manual painting brush on we could achieve high-quality geopolymer layer, if microscopic cracks are visible surface, they uniform do not affect resulting cohesiveness coating. thicknesses these different, ranging from 1.5 11 ?m, no anomalies. For evaluation properties determined adhesion adjacent substrate, microhardness thermal expansion using so-called dilatometric important criteria. analyses, results vary by type discussed in following chapters.
